A reflective group process for those considering or new to independent working in the social sector
Dr Jane Herd is a consultant social worker and senior academic who has worked independently for over 10 years, initially self-employed she then created and runs her own Limited Company and Social Enterprise Orb8 as Director and CEO and is currently planning to create a separate Community Interest Company. She has been repeatedly approached by individuals and small groups wanting her advice and support to move into independent working, enquirers often feel marginalised by absence of experience or contacts in the business sector, lack confidence to promote themselves or belong to demographics who may feel excluded or disadvantaged.
To meet this need Dr Jane Herd has created and will be running a small group programme from September looking at the felt and practical aspects of moving forward to create an independent working future.
This programme recognises that for those who have been employed for many years in the public or third sector moving into independence and the commercial world can be daunting. There will be six sessions on a fortnightly basis exploring a topic and providing, advice, guidance, and a reflective space open to felt and thought contributions to investigate group and individual interests, needs and dilemmas. The space in between sessions allows people to research and develop their projects and bring it back to the group.
