Presenter - Dr Jane Herd has 35 years’ experience in Children’s Social Work and Mental Health she specialises in supporting practitioners, carers and organisations in meeting the needs of traumatised children and young people

Learning Objectives
- To understand what we mean by trauma when talking about children who have experienced neglect, abuse and significantly misattuned care giving
- To learn about the impact of early trauma on the brain and bodily development from pregnancy and in the first 3 years
- To appreciate what such trauma may look like in the presentations of children and young people in foster care
- To consider how Therapeutic Foster Care approaches may help in responding to the needs of traumatised children
