I have over 35 years-experience working with children, families, teachers, non-teaching staff, foster carers, social workers and a range of other professionals in the following areas:
- As a teacher in primary, secondary, special schools and alternative education provision, where I developed a passion for children with special educational needs and in particular children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- As a senior educational psychologist working within local authorities I have a special interest in early years SEND (Special Eduational Needs and Disability) and looked after children. In particular, my work has been informed by ideas and thinking around neurodevelopment, trauma, attachment and resilience. Part of my role has been to develop, facilitate and deliver training within a multi-agency content and working as a clinical supervisor within a team of therapeutic foster carers.
- As an independent play therapist working within CAMHS and as part of an IFA team; as a trainer and panel member for an IFA.
- As a volunteer working in children’s homes in Romania and India and in the UK as a sailor with sail ability.
